Having a birthday party for a group of children aged between 1 and 6 and not sure what to do? A Sesame Street party may be just the ticket! All kids love the show. A party based on this theme is sure to be a big winner. Here’s some ideas for your party:
1. Invitations. This is where it all begins. Make your own invitations with characters from the show on them; like Big Bird, Elmo, and Bert and Ernie. Let everyone know what your party theme is and that you want them to come dressed as their favorite character. If you can afford it, you might want to buy ready-made invitations online.
2. Decorations. Decorate the party venue to look like Sesame Street! Have a big street sign, and colorful characters from the show stuck on the walls. Ask around and get as many Big Bird, Elmo, Cookie Monster, etc stuff toys as you can and place them around the room.
Have a TV on display, continuously playing Sesame Street shows.
3. Party Games. Play games and sing songs from the show. Have craft or coloring in paper where the children can make Big Bird and his friends or color them in.
Play ‘Ping the tail on Big Bird!’
4. Party Cake. It goes without saying that the party cake is going to go along with the party theme. Possibly a picture of Cookie Monster with a big smile?

Before the movie Cube, before the Muppets became a huge success, Jim Henson produced and directed this episode for NBC’s Experiment in Television. Co-written by long time Muppets writer Jerry Juhl, The Cube is an interesting look at a very early Jim Henson and company.
If you’re interested, there’s an entire group dedicated to this movie on Yahoo groups.
I don't think it was on Showtime, but there was a show called Greg the Bunny with Seth Green and a lot of puppets who weren't exactly sesame street material.
